Capita secures £370m deal across four UK government units

The contract will run for seven years with three potential one-year extensions

Capita has won a contract to deliver tech-focused back-office services for public servants across four UK government bodies.

The arrangement, known as Synergy Business Process Services, will cover HR, payroll, recruitment, finance, procurement and service desk support for the Department for Work and Pensions, the Ministry of Justice, the Home Office and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

The programme is expected to begin in phased tranches, starting this month and set to run for seven years, with the option of three one-year extensions.

It is valued at £370m over the potential ten-year term.

Over the past 12 months, the firm has expanded its footprint across the public sector through a series of new and extended engagements.

In January, it secured a £9m arrangement with Kent County Council to provide contact centre services supporting 1.6 million residents.

The four-year programme includes the option of three one-year extensions.

In November, it agreed a three-year extension with Hart District Council, Havant Borough Council, South Oxfordshire District Council and Vale of White Horse District Council.

In May, its Local Public Service (LPS) division won a four-year mandate with SP Energy Networks (SPEN), part of ScottishPower.

Earlier in April, Capita Experience’s Contact Centre division extended its partnership with Southern Water in a deal valued at £92.4m over five years, including £56.3m for the initial three-year term and £36.1m for a potential two-year extension.

The development also comes as UK partner have doubled down on government projects in 2026.

In recent months, Telent has signed agreements to support the Royal Air Force, Sizewell C, Thames Valley Police and Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary as well as East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service.

In January, Phoenix Software secured a £75m arrangement with the UK Ministry of Defence under the Value Added Software Agreement (VOSA), aimed at centralising and optimising procurement of commercial off-the-shelf software across the defence estate.
