HBT Communications sells up to Rydal Group
Rydal Group expands its Midlands presence while pledging to retain the telecoms specialist’s existing staff, management structure and customer relationships
Peterborough-based MSP Rydal Group has acquired Midlands telecoms provider HBT Communications to expand its regional footprint and broaden its managed services portfolio.
The newly bought company became part of its new owner from 15 April and joins the list of Rydal’s steady acquisition trail including Telecom2, Triosoft and Agenda IT.
Founded in 1988 by brothers Zamurad and Ajmal Hussain, HBT Communications, headquartered in Coventry, has spent nearly four decades delivering telecoms and IT services to businesses across the Midlands.
HBT will continue to operate from its Coventry office under its existing management structure, with no changes to staffing, customer support, contracts, pricing or customer contact details.
Steffan Dancy, CEO of Rydal Group, said the acquisition aligns with the company’s focus on investing in regional expertise while maintaining customer relationships and local identity.
“HBT Communications has an exceptional reputation built over decades of trusted service, expertise and strong customer relationships,” he said.
“We are proud to welcome the business into the Rydal Group and look forward to supporting its continued growth while preserving the local, customer-focused approach that has made HBT so respected since 1988.”
Founded in 2008, Rydal Group is headquartered in Peterborough and operates additional sites in Lichfield and Huntingdon, where it runs its own UK-based data centre and ISP infrastructure.
The business supports more than 3,000 UK customers across the SME and enterprise markets through a workforce of more than 120 staff.
Its customer base includes organisations such as Select Car Leasing and Wellbeing Pharmacy, while the company also supplies telecoms resellers through a wholesale model.
Rydal Group said the acquisition will strengthen its presence in the Midlands and provide HBT customers with access to a wider range of services, including its Curo IP cloud telephony platform, AI-powered communications tools, UK-hosted data centre services, and managed IT and cyber security offerings.
The company added that there is no requirement for HBT customers to adopt additional services, with all existing services continuing unchanged.
Rydal Group holds ISO 9001, ISO 27001 and ISO 14001 certifications and said its family-run leadership structure closely aligns with HBT Communications’ longstanding business values.
The acquisition forms part of Rydal Group’s wider growth strategy focused on regional expansion and increasing service capabilities while retaining a local customer service approach.
