Alastair Mills steps down from Kerv
His departure follows co-founder Michael Ing’s retirement last month
Alastair Mills, co-founder and executive chairman of MSP Kerv is leaving the business after nearly six years.
He announced his move on LinkedIn.
“I'm going to miss being in/around a quite exceptional group of people that grew from three in 2020 to almost 1,000 today,” he wrote.
“We wanted to prove that scale and growth (both organically and M&A) could co-exist with great culture and investment in people.
“The team have delivered teens organic compounds annual growth rate throughout the life of the company.
“I'm not sure any other UK company in our space has delivered that at £100m scale alongside ten acquisitions?”
The organisation reported earnings of £104.1m in its latest set of results for the year ended 31 March 2024, a nearly 40 per cent jump from £74.5m.
The company was born from the merger of Foehn, DoubleEdge and Metaphor IT in 2020.
Over the last five years it has acquired other tech firms including UCNS Managed IT, cloudThing, Gyrocom, the Communications Compliance Practice, Worth Digital and Monochrome Consultancy.
Its most recent purchase was IT consultancy Inciper in 2024, which brought over £10m in revenue alongside 75 employees.
Mills added he intends to strengthen its focus on Prefcap, the venture capital fund he co-founded.
This will include focusing on earlier stage tech, notably software and AI.
Prior to joining the organisation, the channel vet assumed the role of CEO at Six Degrees and SpiriTel.
His departure comes a month after co-founder Michael Ing announced his retirement.
These were not the only executive changes made by the company in recent months, with the promotion of Katrina King to the newly created role of chief customer and operations officer in January.
Ian Grose was also hired as CFO earlier this month to double down on organic evolution, acquisitions and partnerships.
Kerv ranks number 42 on CRN’s Top VARs list.
