Steady as she goes for LifeSize distribution
Video conferencing vendor plans no further shake-ups post-Azlan split
After parting ways with TDAzlan, LifeSize now has the right distribution line-up to drive more sales through VARs, according to EMEA sales vice president Andreas Wienold.
He said that TDAzlan works with a number of large vendors, and LifeSize felt it was not receiving the growth focus it really sought as a smaller rival.
However, it was very happy with the remaining four distributors: Touchline, Medium, Zycko, and Tempura Communications.
"Zycko is a good example - it is a phenomenal company. I think we need two things: the right size of distributor, but at the same time we need the right capability," he said.
UK is the strongest market for the vendor currently. And LifeSize delivered its highest-ever quarterly sales globally in the Q3 since being acquired by Logitech in November 2009 for $405m (£249m) - a move that Wienold noted stabilised the brand's position by giving it the security of being part of a larger global player.
Wienold added that, long term, LifeSize sees video conferencing becoming folded into the wider unified communications market. "But this could take many years," he said.
Logitech and LifeSize mid-2010 became founding members of the new Unified Communications Interoperability Forum (UCIF), alongside HP, Juniper, Microsoft and Polycom.
Matt Collier, senior vice president for corporate development at LifeSize, said at the time: "Logitech and LifeSize believe in a future where video communication is as easy as making a telephone call."
