Magirus bags EMEA-wide distribution deal with VCE

Pan-European distributor given access to Cisco, VMware and EMC coalition's wares

Magirus has been handed European distribution rights by the Virtual Computing Environment (VCE) for its line of Vblock infrastructure packages.

VCE is the name given to the tri-vendor coalition formed by VMware, Cisco and EMC in 2009, when all three agreed to pool their resources to create the private cloud-enabling Vblock packages.

The pan-European distributor will be responsible for providing the technology to resellers across EMEA, and aiding the rollout of the VCE's new channel programme.

Christian Magirus (pictured), executive vice president of Magirus, said the firm was delighted to have clinched the deal.

"We have worked with VMware, Cisco and EMC for many years and have been working closely with VCE for several months," he explained. "This enables us to bring immediate value to VCE and to help develop profitable new revenue streams for our partners."

The announcement comes hot on the heels of the EMC World conference, where the VCE's senior vice president for worldwide sales and channels Blake Salle hinted to ChannelWeb that a distribution announcement was in the pipeline.

"We want to drive most of our business through distribution," he told ChannelWeb. "We want our distributors to act as a storefront for us and honour all our opportunity registration and rebate programmes so partners do not miss out.

"We will also be relying on them to find out who the best datacentre partners are to help us push and sell the converged infrastructure message to customers."
