Chiltern IT names its Price

Former WStore boss set to take over as managing director of spare parts distributor

Tony Price (pictured) is gearing up to become a managing director again, two years after stepping down from the helm of online VAR WStore.

Price joined spare parts distributor Chiltern IT as commercial director in 2010, after he sold Wstore to Systemax for an undisclosed sum.

Effective from the beginning of next month, Price will take over as managing director of Chiltern IT, with present head Graham Nye taking on the role of owner/chairman.

Speaking to ChannelWeb, Price said: “I really want to drive the business forward and I can see a real opportunity there for everybody. It is a great company and the location within the M25 means we can react quickly and get a lot of orders into the capital, although we have customers all over the world.”

He said the firm’s turnover for its most recent financial year was £6.5m and his plan is to double that within three years.

“I am aiming to get some more vendors on board and grow the breadth of manufacturers that we sell,” he said. “A lot of vendors don’t really understand the spares market and we can help them tap into that market.”

Vendors that he is keen to work with include Lenovo and Fujitsu, and Chiltern is on the verge of announcing a partnership with a major print player in the coming week.

He also said he would not rule out acquisitions, both in the UK or further afield in Europe.
