ViewSonic puts faith in Northamber

Audio-visual vendor extends partnership as Northamber enlists former Acer boss Nathan Knight as consultant

ViewSonic has handed Northamber access to a wider array of its wares following a "record" year with the distributor.

Northamber already carried ViewSonic's TFT, projector and cloud products but has now also been granted the keys to the California-based vendor's large format display, digital signage and thin client portfolio.

The contract extension comes just a year after ViewSonic appointed Ingram Micro as its sole UK and Ireland distributor for its digital signage products.

After losing a string of vendor contracts last year, Northamber last month enlisted the son of its chairman, management consultant Alex Phillips, to help steer it back to growth and profitability.

CRN understands that recently departed Acer commercial business unit manager Nathan Knight has also joined the distributor on a short-term consultancy basis before he returns to his native New Zealand.

In a joint statement released to CRN, ViewSonic and Northamber said the distributor had been "re-invigorated" by the recent changes.

Richard Carr, head of sales for northern Europe at ViewSonic, added: "Northamber is ViewSonic's oldest channel partner and have been instrumental in delivering sales acceleration year on year.

"Northamber have an ultra-proactive and responsive attitude to sales and business challenges which makes our partnership so successful."
