Price cuts away from Chiltern IT

Former managing director leaves to pursue other opportunities as chairman Graham Nye steps back into the hotseat

Chiltern IT boss Tony Price has stepped down to explore other opportunities as chairman Graham Nye steps back in the hotseat.

Price joined the spare parts distributor in September 2010 with a remit of making the firm more proactive rather than reactive.

Since joining the company, Price has overseen a board restructure, hired strategic and international sales heads, taken on four new OEM brands, built new staff facilities and developed a value-add client-side purchasing system.

Speaking to CRN, Graham Nye (pictured below) said: "This was a mutual decision. When Tony started here it was at a time when I was having to get involved in other family businesses and Tony came in to fill a role that I couldn't give my full attention to. He came on board as commercial director and quickly showed his worth so I moved him into the managing director role.

"Tony has done a great job and turned it from a family-run business to a professionally run business. We have some really good people on board and a new level of middle management that we have not had before. I'm feeling quite re-energised and am looking forward to the challenge. I wish Tony every future success and imagine he will be quickly snapped up by another forward-looking industry player," he said.

Price told CRN: "I knew I was going to have to make the decision [to leave] at some point and asked to leave a little earlier than planned. Over the past three and a bit years my skill set has been all about development and I'm feeling extremely motivated right now because of all the things I have achieved."

Price said there was nothing definite in the pipeline, but he was exploring a number of opportunities, and is also open to new opportunities.

"I am considering a few things right now, but am happy to leave things very much open for a while," he said.
