Outsourcery Lyncs with HP in new SMB deal

Vendor offers cloud comms service to smaller firms through partnership

HP and cloud services partner Outsourcery are teaming up on a new deal to offer unified Lync services to HP's SMB customers.

Piers Linney (pictured), co-chief executive of Outsourcery, said the deal will give HP customers access to the cloud services provider's unified, hosted Microsoft Lync communications service.

"Sixty per cent of businesses plan to deploy Lync in the next year," he claimed. "And our Microsoft-based unified Lync solution has been proven to improve communication and collaboration in businesses of all sizes."

The hosted version of Lync is delivered via Outsourcery's O-Cloud platform for instant messaging, presence, videoconferencing, desktop sharing, and file sharing remotely using any internet-connected device, Linney said, and it can also be voice-enabled to allow PBX replacement.

Lee Knott, UK head of SMB at HP, said this would be a cost-effective alternative to on-premise Lync for HP customers, and HP's SMB sales force will work closely with Outsourcery to deliver it.

"Lync can be a complex product to deploy, and we believe Outsourcery has the experience and expertise to deliver these value-added services," Knott said.
