Cyber Adapt signs first UK partner

Security firm launched its global partner programme last month

Security firm Cyber Adapt has signed its first UK partner after launching a global partner programme last month.

The mobile enterprise security vendor has signed up change-management firm Innovation, which works primarily in the financial services sector.

The vendor now expects to sign up five partners over the next month.

Cyber Adapt CEO Kirsten Bay claimed that the firm's solution is designed to fit in with products from other vendors, not replace them, which creates an opportunity for partners.

"For us it's about having a complementary platform, not pushing other vendors out," Bay said. "If you look at the products people need, I look at the layered stack of products and I want us to be the bottom layer - the last line of defence.

"You have anti-virus products that should either prevent or catch something, but the reality is that they [security threats] are very sophisticated.

"For us, being the bottom layer of the stack where we can secure and encrypt end-to-end data allows to feed information back into the ecosystem."

Cyber Adapt currently has 12 partners worldwide and Bay has set the target of having 25-30 partners globally by the end of the year, with 10 or 15 operating in Europe, but is conscious of not taking on too many partners too quickly.

She added that as the partner base increases taking on a distributor would be an option.

"It's about looking at the economics of it and how we can be most efficient," she said.

"The challenge is when you bring on so many partners, how do you manage them?

"Getting the right model and right partners on board to make sure we're not spreading ourselves too thin is really important [but] I don't want to create a competitive market and start to cannibalise the business."
