Why I'm backing HP's Neil Sawyer for Channel Chief of the Year
HP's commercial channel director ticks all the boxes for people's choice awards, according to Storm Technologies' Trevor Nickolls
I wanted to take the opportunity to nominate Neil Sawyer (HP Inc commercial channel director) for the CRN Channel Chief of the Year Award.
To be honest I don't normally do this sort of thing but Neil has been instrumental in helping our company move forward not only in growth, but in credibility, by ensuring he and his excellent team are always on hand to support our constant high demands well above and beyond our expectations.
Neil is a pleasure to deal with. His familiarity and enthusiasm to succeed to the highest quality , in my opinion, outshines his peers in similar roles.
He is quite funny too……occasionally.
I regularly speak to his team and his leadership skills are obviously rubbing off, as I see the same qualities and enthusiasm (which is key) throughout my day to day dealings with HP.
I personally believe in a few key traits:
- In order to be a solid "Chief" you've got to consistently do what you say you're going to do. Neil does.
- Understanding yourself and your own limitations -- what you're good at, what you're not good at. Neil excels in the areas he is good at, but doesn't try and offer unwanted opinions, just sound experienced advice.
- Neil continues to learn and grow, it is evident he does his research and understands what he is trying to communicate.
For all of these reasons, I have decided that it is worth taking the time to recognise Neil and his attributes and hopefully you will do too. He deserves it.
