VIP Distribution's Marsden departs after 21 years

The MD’s duties will be taken on by chairman Jatti Sahni

VIP Distribution's managing director Rich Marsden is stepping down from the firm after 21 years.

Marsden joined Realtime Distribution as a sales director in 1999, which was then bought by VIP in 2006. He was appointed MD of the distie in 2016.

His exit means that chairman Jatti Sahni will take a "more hands-on" role within the company, working closely with its senior commercial team.

"After 21 years, today is my final day at VIP. It has been a huge privilege to be part of the company journey over the years. Back in 1999 when I started, I did not imagine my career would be as long or fruitful, as I just needed a job!" he said in a statement shared on LinkedIn.

"Thank you to Jatti Sahni for the support and opportunity afforded to me whilst at VIP. Thank you also to the senior team, it has been a pleasure to work with you and see you grow into the leaders you are today. Together we have grown the company to achieve record revenues, it is well placed with you to grow further over the coming years, set the sights high and you will achieve."

Marsden added that he would be taking time off to "recharge" before setting off on his next venture.

"As one chapter closes, another starts. There are many things I want to experience and achieve, however as anyone who has worked in distribution will know, it is a treadmill," he continued.

"For the first time in a long time, I am going to step off, recharge for a while then look to the future."
