AWS names former Cisco exec as new global channel boss
Ruba Borno revealed on LinkedIn that she will take up the role of vice-president of worldwide channels and alliances at AWS
AWS has poached Cisco's global customer experience centre boss to head up its channels and alliances division.
Ruba Borno will take over as vice-president of worldwide channels and alliances at the public cloud vendor, according to her LinkedIn profile, having spent the last six-and-a-half years with Cisco.
She most recently held the position of senior vice-president and general manager for Cisco's CX centres and managed services, which has included leading the "full portfolio of Cisco support and professional services" such as "technical support, professional services, managed services, customer success, and global spare parts and repair logistics".
Borno has also previously served as the company's vice-president of growth initiatives and chief of staff to the CEO between 2015 and 2018.
It follows the confirmation that AWS' head of worldwide channels and alliances, Doug Yeum, is leaving the role to take up a new position with Amazon.
Yeum has been head of worldwide channels and alliances for the past two-and-a-half years and before that held the roles of technical advisor to the CEO and as the company's general manager for Korea.
Borno's appointment means AWS has had three global channel bosses in as many years to head up its network of more than 100,000 partners.
