New CEO for Vertiv

Digital infrastructure vendor Vertiv has named Giordano Albertazzi to head up the company as its new CEO.

Albertazzi replaces Rob Johnson who stepped down from the role after more than six years for health reasons.

"I'm honoured to take the helm of Vertiv as CEO. I'm looking forward to working closely with our leadership team and employees around the world to continue to increase the value we create for our customers, further strengthen our financial performance and create long-term value for our shareholders," said Albertazzi.

"As I've shared with Vertiv employees, we will work to achieve our full potential by focusing on building a high-performance culture of collaboration and innovation; institutionalising operational excellence and execution; and ultimately delivering profitable growth and improved cash flow."

His focus will lie in upping Vertiv's customer focus as it addresses the infrastructure and business needs of the datacentre, communication networks and industrial applications.

Vertiv, which counts Ingram Micro, TD SYNNEX and Esprinet as its channel partners, said this is a crucial time for the group's datacentre market, which reported a record order backlog of $4.7bn as of the end of the third quarter of 2022.

Albertazzi joined the vendor in 2016 as its president for EMEA. After more than five years he moved on to head up the Americas in March 2022 and was named its COO in October until taking the top job of the company.

In addition to becoming CEO, he will continue in his position as president of the Americas, until a successor is named.

In connection with Albertazzi transitioning out of the COO role, operational oversight will reside with regional Presidents to further focus on regional performance.

Vertiv EMEA leadership reshuffle

Last summer the vendor announced a host of changes to its EMEA leadership team.

Ana Maria Ciurea was named VP of commercial operations, Peter Lambrecht as VP sales and Rastislav Jasenovsky as VP operations for infrastructure and solutions (I&S).

The group explained that ensuring strong leadership within sales and operations while also developing talent internally was a key priority for Vertiv in 2022.
