Westcon-Comstor expands Proofpoint partnership to Germany, Spain, and Portugal

This expansion builds on existing distribution agreements in several European countries

Global technology distributor Westcon-Comstor has announced the expansion of its partnership with cybersecurity firm Proofpoint into new European markets.

The move will see Westcon distribute Proofpoint's human-centric security solutions to channel partners in Germany, Spain, and Portugal.

This expansion builds upon existing distribution agreements in several European countries, including France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and the UK.

It represents the latest phase in a planned rollout across Europe, with further expansion anticipated in the future.

The partnership extension comes at a critical time for cybersecurity according to Proofpoint's recent reports that highlight the persistent threat of data loss and cyberattacks, with human error remaining a significant vulnerability.

The company's 2024 Voice of the CISO report found that 70 per cent of CISOs believe their organisations are at risk of a major cyber-attack within the next year.

In response to these challenges, Proofpoint has introduced new email security solutions.

These include what the company claims is the industry's first pre-delivery defence against both social engineering threats and malicious links, as well as new adaptive email security capabilities using behavioural AI.

Daniel Hurel, SVP at Westcon EMEA cybersecurity & next-generation solutions, emphasised the importance of the partnership in their zero trust and cloud security strategy.

"Proofpoint's integration with other key security vendors allows partners to offer comprehensive protection across various attack vectors," he said.

Kent Breaux, SVP EMEA at Proofpoint, also highlighted the persistent threat of email-based attacks and the need for human-centric security approaches. He stated: "The collaboration with Westcon would deliver first-class cybersecurity protection to organisations facing evolving threats in the DACH and Iberia markets."

This is the second time this year Westcon has expanded a cybersecurity partnership's reach in Europe.

In May 2024, Westcon-Comstor grew its distribution partnership into the British, Irish and Nordic markets with AI cybersecurity vendor Vectra AI.
