John Hayes-Warren has taken on the role of CEO at Intec Microsystems, a value-added distributor (VAD) owned by private equity firm Chiltern Capital.

Hayes-Warren, who previously held senior roles at Agilitas IT Solutions, described his new position as an opportunity to lead a transformational project.

“I’ve taken the role, started this week, and we’ve got a lot of work,” he tells CRN, highlighting his excitement for the new role.

Birmingham-based Intec Microsystems has been in operation for over 20 years, with a reputation for efficient logistics and a loyal customer base.

However, according to Hayes-Warren, the company must now focus on repositioning itself within the market.

“We’ve got a good customer base, but we need to evolve as a distributor,” he explains.

He is keen to shift Intec more towards the VAD space, while maintaining its broad-line distribution model.

“We need to specialise in certain areas while still offering the broad base,” he adds.

One of his first moves as CEO will be to centralise the company's marketing efforts and reposition the brand identity.

“The first thing I’ve done is put marketing into a central place, because it’s been fragmented,” Hayes-Warren says.

An experienced partner firm leader, he first joined Agilitas in 2022 as chief revenue officer with the goal of helping to scale the business.

Prior to this, he spent two years as UK sales director at Logicalis and two years as head of vertical markets at Claranet.

Hayes-Warren joined Agilitas at a time of significant upheaval for the business, following a 2020 investment by entrepreneur Shaun Lynn with backing from Perwyn Capital.

He was promoted to CEO just a year later, in October 2023.

Intec Microsystems, recently acquired by Chiltern Capital, has been a key player in the UK’s IT distribution sector, offering a wide range of products from global tech brands,

Hayes-Warren’s focus will be on building Intec’s profile in the channel, leveraging its operational strengths while reshaping its market identity.
