Econocom continues to make integration moves as it proceeds with its One Econocom initiative.

This week, the solution provider announced it had purchased Image Supply Systems Audio Visual (ISS AV) and fully integrated Smartcomm into its brand to boost UKI AV integration projects across education, public-sector and corporate environments.

Combined with existing resources, the two firms will now offer consultancy, design, installation, integration, maintenance, and support for AV environments of every scale across the UK and Ireland.

ISSAV, adds a client base of over 150 organisations spread across the education, public, and corporate sectors.

Econocom acquired a 67 per cent stake in the AV integrator, with the previous owners retaining a 33 per cent share.

Smartcomm, which was acquired in May 2025, is now fully integrated into the brand.

Its team will continue to provide the same large-scale AV projects in corporate headquarters, universities, and public-sector estates under the Econocom name.

The combined mergers bring over 55 AV specialists to the UK and Ireland team.

In an exclusive interview with CRN, Israel Garcia, country manager UK, and MD of business development and strategic plan at Econocom, explains that the reseller’s UK AV business should reach “between £30m to £40m by the end of the year”.

In FY24, the company’s UK revenue stood at £85m.

“Smartcomm and ISSAV are both trusted AV integrators with strong track records in their respective markets,” he added in an official statement.

“What unites them, and makes them such a strong fit for Econocom, is a shared commitment to delivering complete, integrated AV and IT solutions to customers.”

Steven Worrell, previously MD of Smartcomm and now director of the AV division at Econocom, explained: “Becoming part of Econocom has enabled us to align with a wider European vision while continuing to serve our clients with the same focus and dedication.

“With the backing of a strong, international group, we can now scale our solutions and bring even greater value to customers across the UK and Ireland.”

For ISS AV, joining the VAR allows the Irish company to expand its capabilities throughout Ireland and into Europe, said Brendan Nourse, the organisation’s director.

According to him, this move will also open the doors to new opportunities across Europe, by giving ISS AV access to a broader network, greater resources, and a wider client base.

These purchases are part of the reseller’s recent series of acquisitions in European AV firms.

Last week, the company invested in 70 per cent of German ProAV and digital signage company ICT AG.

Shortly after, it bought a majority stake in engineering and AV company Avanzia.

These recent moves elevate the company’s European AV business to €300m (£259m).

Both acquisitions are part of the reseller’s €225m Schuldschein-backed investment programme, consolidating national AV markets, broadening sector reach, and speeding up the One Econocom transformation plan.

Econocom’s UK arm ranks number 93 in CRN’s Top VARs 2025 list.
