Infinigate names James Baker to lead its cloud and marketplace strategy
The former Giacom exec brings over 26 years of channel experience
Switzerland-HQ distributor Infinigate has hired James Baker as regional VP, cloud and marketplace, to accelerate the expansion of its portfolio and value proposition across all geographies.
Despite the regional designation in his title, Baker’s remit will be group-wide, Infinigate confirmed in an email to CRN.
The new leader will reportedly help partners capture growing demand and build sustainable new revenue streams, working closely with vendors to scale and integrate the company’s service offering.
While James’ remit is group-wide.
He brings over 26 years of channel experience, joining Infinigate from Giacom, where he served as MD of cloud operations and previously as chief product officer.
He has held other senior leadership roles spanning sales, vendor alliances, marketing and general management at tech organisations including Softcat, Insight, Symantec and Microwarehouse.
“I am delighted to take on this role and lead the expansion of cloud and marketplace across Infinigate, working closely with our key vendors and channel partners,” said Baker.
“There is a significant opportunity to help resellers, systems integrators, VARs, MSPs and ISVs build long-term, future-ready and profitable cloud businesses.”
Marco van Kalleveen, CEO of Infinigate, added: “Cloud and marketplace are strategically important growth areas for Infinigate and a major opportunity for our partners.
“[Baker] brings the leadership, channel expertise and commercial insight to help us scale this part of the business and support our partners in capturing the opportunities ahead.”
The move comes amid a flurry of new leadership appointments made by the distie.
Last week, it named Kai Grunwitz chief growth officer to scale its operations across EMEA and ANZ.
In January, it hired Ben Jones as CTO and onboarded Peter Beurghs as MD of its Belgian branch, replacing Maarten Bovée.
In November, Peter Meier became the group’s new CFO and COO.
Two months earlier, Alexandre Remy joined the group as chief strategy and M&A officer, while Corrado Farina was named sales director for the newly launched Infinigate Italy.
These people moves follow the arrival of Marco van Kalleveen, who took the helm of Infinigate in June last year.
Over the past 12 months, the organisation has also expanded its global portfolio through new and extended partnerships with Corelight, RUCKUS Networks, Nozomi Networks, Horizon3.ai, BeyondTrust, KnowBe4, N-able, AWS, Check Point, Cloudflare, Barracuda Networks, Progress Software and OPSWAT.
