Onecom unites IT arms under OnecomMatrix
The new brand follows the buyout of Matrix IT in February
Hampshire-based VAR Onecom has launched OnecomMatrix, a new managed services brand bringing together Matrix IT and Onecom’s IT Managed Services (ITMS) division.
The move follows the acquisition of Matrix IT in February and will consolidate the two businesses into a single operation focused on delivering IT managed services with a cybersecurity-first approach.
OnecomMatrix will support organisations that want to modernise and secure their IT environments through a team of 80 people across infrastructure, cloud, managed detection and response and managed services.
The firm said the new brand will begin appearing across customer communications over the coming weeks, while existing customer agreements, contacts and support channels will remain unchanged.
“Bringing these two businesses together gives our customers access to a deeper bench of talent and a security-first mindset that underpins everything we deliver,” said Aaron Brown, CEO of Onecom.
“OnecomMatrix is built to be the IT partner our customers need for what comes next.”
At the time of the acquisition, Onecom co-founder and former CEO Darren Ridge told CRN that Matrix IT strengthened the organisation’s Microsoft, cybersecurity and managed services capabilities.
The deal, which marked the firm’s 14th buyout in six years, brought more than 45 employees into the business, around two-thirds of whom are focused on service delivery.
The company’s previous takeovers include Gradwell Communications, Russell Telecom, IP Office, 9 Retail, 9 Partners, Daly Systems, Excalibur Communications, On-Site Connect Limited, IMS Technology, Solution IP, Olive Communications, Nice Network and Glamorgan Telecom Group.
The integration also comes at a transformative time for the company.
In May, co-founder Aaron Brown became group CEO after more than a decade as COO.
He replaced Ridge, who returned to a non-executive director role.
The move also marked the firm’s third CEO change in ten months.
Prior to Ridge, Martin Flick served as the head of the company for four and a half years until July 2025.
He has since become chairman of lifecycle services company Smart CT.
Onecom ranks number 28 on CRN’s Top VARs list.
