Distributor adds video vendor to UC portfolio

Video vendor LifeSize has added Avnet Technology Solutions UK to its distribution stable.

The video player's technology will slot into Avnet's unified communications (UC) portfolio, alongside vendors such as Avaya and Motorola. The distributor claims it has invested in skilling up on the entire LifeSize portfolio. LifeSize demo kit has been installed at the distributor's facilities in Warrington and Bracknell.

Avnet's UC business manager Adrian Studd said: "Avnet reviewed the marketplace and opened negotiations with LifeSize, having been impressed with the company's forward-thinking approach and innovative technology. By partnering with Avnet and LifeSize our business partners will be able to leverage the fully trained and dedicated sales, technical and marketing resources within the Avnet UC team."

LifeSize's UK distributor numbers fell from five to four earlier this year when TDAzlan parted ways with the vendor, leaving Zycko, Touchline, Tempura Communications and Medium as the new-look line-up. Avnet also parted company with a video vendor this year, after its relationship with Tandberg ended in January.

Georges Millet, EMEA channels and alliance director at the video manufacturer, said: "The partnership with Avnet is an important step in our business strategy and will help us to take full advantage of the growth in the video communications industry. Avnet puts partners at the heart of its business, helping them to build top-notch converged solutions that deliver tangible business value.

"In the past year video communications have truly hit the mainstream, both at home and work, and we believe our innovative, interoperable technology will further enhance Avnet's already strong pedigree in unified communications."
