Alcatel-Lucent confirms possible sale of enterprise unit
Following months of speculation, comms vendor admits it is examining "strategic options"
Comms vendor Alcatel-Lucent has confirmed that it is considering selling off its enterprise business, following months of market speculation.
The Franco-American firm issued a statement today indicating that it is "exploring strategic options to enhance the future opportunities of its enterprise business". The statement went on to reveal that staff representatives from the business are being consulted today.
"All options are being explored, including discussions with third parties," added the statement. "No decision has been made on the options being explored and there is no certainty that this review will result in any change to the Alcatel-Lucent enterprise business."
Rumours of a possible divestiture first emerged in April, following a report in the Wall Street Journal. Industry chatter picked out HP and Microsoft as possible buyers.
