Tech a break

Stone the crows! Brits feel overwhelmed by too much technology. A decidedly glum Dave investigates

Oh, no! I was crestfallen to discover this week that one in three Brits feels overwhelmed by communications technology and longs to escape it.

In a hammer blow for technologists everywhere, research from Cambridge University and BT finds that three in five parents believe technology has a negative impact on family life.

I've always laboured under the assumption that the young folk are mad on the MyFace and the TweetBox. But the survey finds that 34 per cent of 25-34 year olds, and almost 40 per cent of the 10-18 year old bracket, consider themselves overwhelmed by communications technology.

But, fear not! Big-hearted old BT has come up with its "five-a-day" plan to help people achieve a "balanced communications diet".

Stressed out tech heads should take care to: be aware, have rules, educate the youngsters, find the right balance and think about where technology is placed in the home.

Why not consider putting your PC in the toilet to control usage? Actually, I don't think this would work for the men of the household.
