Double digit UC growth predicted

Research firm Frost & Sullivan foresees worldwide UC revenues topping $4.5bn in 2008

Telephony upgrades will help drive the unified communications (UC) market towards a global worth of $5bn this year, research house Frost & Sullivan has claimed.

Frost & Sullivan has predicted that global UC revenue will rise 13 per cent this year to $4.55bn (£2.31bn). The research firm singled out telephony upgrades, migration to voice over IP and email upgrades that are embedded with UC applications as key drivers for the surge in UC revenue.

Manoj Menon, partner at Frost & Sullivan, claimed the compatibility of products from differing UC providers would become increasingly important. He also earmarked businesses in the Asia-Pacific region as particularly receptive to UC.

Menon said: "Growth is the top priority for any enterprise. In order to stay on the growth track, enterprises in Asia-Pacific are looking at UC to stay agile, productive and customer-centric. UC holds the key to enhanced team collaboration, improved business processes and increased cost savings."
