‘This is a fundamental shift’: CybaVerse CEO on brand revamp

Oliver Spence reflects on the firm’s new positioning, channel-first approach and UK focus

Portsmouth-HQ cyber vendor CybaVerse has recently rebranded to move away from consultancy-led defence towards a platform-driven operational model centred on its CybaOps platform.

The repositioning aims to replace fragmented security tooling and reactive workflows with a unified operational approach to cybersecurity.

“This is a fundamental shift in how both we and our customers manage cybersecurity operations,” Oliver Spence, CEO and co-founder of CybaVerse, tells CRN.

“The rebrand reflects a move away from fragmented tools, reactive workflows and complexity towards a model where security is run as a continuous, operational system.”

Under the new model, security operations are managed through a unified platform rather than multiple tools, with automation and real-time decision-making used to prioritise threats and drive faster responses.

The CEO says the change also introduces a more predictable commercial model built around continuous operational services rather than one-off consultancy engagements.

He notes that the rebrand also coincides with a move to a channel-first approach.

“We have moved to a channel-first model, which means partners are no longer an extension of the business, they’re at the centre of how we scale.”

CybaVerse has introduced a new partner programme aligned with its operational model, which includes new initiatives aimed at strengthening partner engagement.

Spence explains that early feedback from existing partners has been positive, particularly as the shift enables them to deliver higher-value security services.

CybaOps focus

Spence explains that the firm’s CybaOps platform will form the core of its future business strategy.

The platform is designed to bring visibility, prioritisation and response capabilities together into a single operational layer for security teams.

“CybaOps is the core of our business model,” he explains.

“It’s not just something we sell, it’s what we run our own business on internally across security and broader IT operations.”

According to Spence, this internal use provides direct feedback on how the platform performs and where it needs to evolve.

“For MSPs and resellers in particular, it allows them to move beyond reselling tools and into delivering ongoing cyber operations as a service with clear, continuous value to their customers.”

Introducing the ‘Cyber Operator’

As part of the repositioning, the organisation has introduced the concept of the “Cyber Operator”.

The head of the organisation describes this as both a role and a mindset focused on actively running security operations rather than passively monitoring alerts.

“The Cyber Operator represents a mindset as much as a role,” he says.

“It’s about operating with discipline, clarity and high performance, understanding what matters, taking action quickly, and continuously improving how security is run.”

Spence highlights that partners adopting the model will be supported through new workflows, standards and operational capabilities designed to help them deliver security services more effectively.

M&A plans and UK growth

While the co-founder says he is seeing a lot of traction right now in terms of acquisitions, his immediate priority is strengthening its presence in the UK market.

“Our focus is very deliberate, doubling down on the UK and making sure our partners are the number one priority,” Spence says.

“Rather than stretching ourselves thin or chasing a growth-at-all-costs model, we’re focused on executing properly, scaling what’s already working and ensuring our partners are set up to succeed.”

The takeover of SecureAck in June also reportedly played an important role in the rebrand, as it gave CybaVerse greater control over alert ingestion, workflow automation and integration across various security tools.

He adds that international expansion and further funding opportunities remain possible in the future but its current strategy centres on building a strong position in the UK through its partner ecosystem.
