Swyx on hunt for 50 new VARs

Dortmund-based vendor lures partners with new licensing model

After shaking up its licensing model, software-based unified communications vendor Swyx is aiming to more than double its UK partner numbers.

The Dortmund-based firm recently launched SwyxWare 2011, which allows users to order the precise number of licences they require, rather than buying in blocks of five, 10, 20, 50, 100 or 200.

New features include an enhanced presence platform, which syncs with Microsoft Outlook or Lotus Notes.

The vendor has also increased the functions of its basic package, as compared with the additional professional option pack. Swyx chief executive Ralf Ebbinghaus (pictured) said resellers would now have greater upsell opportunities.

"In discussions with our resellers we found we were selling too many things in the beginning," he explained. "[They] said the basic is a bit too basic, and then maybe the [professional option pack] has to be discounted."

Ebbinghaus added that Swyx wants to add another 50 UK partners to its current stable of about 40. He picked out south-east England as a key recruitment region.
