Team Leapfrogs ahead in British Cycling

Bolton firm accelerates through the start in road racing competition

The official cycle racing team of Bolton reseller Leapfrog Group GB, Team Leapfrog, has jumped right into the 2013 season, taking the top spot at a Rossendale Road Club meet on Saturday.

Lee Bevan, chief executive of Leapfrog and team manager, said Team Leapfrog's Craig Battersby won the 10.3-mile hilly time trial on Saturday, and the team won overall as well.

It had three riders in the top 10, out of a field of 95 cyclists on the day.

"The season just started this weekend, and we had fantastic wins for Team Leapfrog," he said.

"On Sunday, the team's comeback rider, Mark Dziobon, went from the start to take a fine second place in the Cycling Development North West (CDNW) Pimbo road race, spending the majority of the race out front alone. He was caught after half-distance by the eventual winner Sean Hughes. Darran [Accton] took 10th to sneak into the points."

"Team Leapfrog will compete in road races and time trials throughout the UK at national and regional level in 2013," Bevan said. "For the previous three seasons Craig [Battersby] and his team were sponsored by an alternative company which has since disbanded."

Leapfrog has also sponsored the team's strip (pictured, below), and other sponsorship opportunities are available.

Bevan added that he is doing a coast-to-coast ride in April as a memorial to a friend, and the Blackpool-to-Paris "Tower2Tower" ride, this July, for the second time.

"I am not in the cycling team as I am not good enough. But we do have some of the best North-West cycling talent," he said.
