ScanSource closes Imago acquisition

Move more than doubles headcount of European comms business to nearly 200

ScanSource claims the closure of its acquisition of UK distributor Imago Group will spark "tremendous" cross-sell opportunities for its resellers.

Global distributor ScanSource announced yesterday it had completed its purchase of the video and voice comms specialist a month after the duo inked a non-binding agreement to join forces.

The deal includes Imago's operations in the UK and France, as well as its recently acquired German business, and will more than double the headcount of its European comms business. Headed up by Ian Vickerage (pictured), Imago was founded in 1991.

"We are excited to have Ian and his team of more than 120 very talented employees as a part of ScanSource," said Mike Ferney, president of worldwide communications and services at ScanSource.

"The Imago team, along with our ScanSource Communications team in Europe led by Rudy De Meirsman, will now total nearly 200 people, delivering video, voice and data solutions from the leading brands. As these two teams begin to work together, there will be tremendous cross-selling opportunities for resellers and vendors alike."

ScanSource Communications, which works with vendors including Avaya and ShoreTel, is the smaller of ScanSource's two divisions, posting global revenues for the financial year ending 30 June of $1.04bn (£636m).

Its other division, Barcode & Security, which punts AIDC, POS and physical security technology, is nearly twice as large, generating revenues of $1.87bn during the same period.

Fortune 1000 outfit ScanSource's total revenue rose by 1.3 per cent in its last fiscal year to $2.91bn. The firm claims to work with more than 28,000 resellers globally.
