Ramsac dives into UC with acquisition
Telecoms firm Sastel snapped up by reseller
Reseller Ramsac has swallowed up telecoms firm Sastel as it moves into the UC space.
Sastel is a Surrey-based firm with six staff that specialises in the telecoms and UC space. The company will join Ramsac in its Godalming base.
Sastel managing director Stephen Smith will become Ramsac's head of UC once the deal closes.
Ramsac managing director Robert May (pictured) said that the Sastel buy came about as the IT and telecoms worlds become closer than ever.
"We've been involved in UC over the past four or five years, but really focusing at the Shoretel end of solutions - the larger scale UC things - and we've done some call centre deployments and that kind of thing," he told CRN.
"That's worked really well, and as a pure traditional IT business that's suited our core skills. But that product offering isn't applicable to everybody and it doesn't suit everybody.
"Equally, over the years, we've worked with Sastel, a traditional telecoms business, and what they bring to the party is a lot of experience of the pure telecoms industry and a number of additional telecoms products and services."
