Azzurri name vanishes from view

Maintel integrates Azzurri brand following reverse takeover in May

One of UK's most prominent reseller brands disappeared from view this morning with the integration of Azzurri Communications into Maintel.

Maintel swallowed Avaya, Mitel and Microsoft partner Azzurri in a £48.5m reverse takeover completed in May.

As of today, the business will trade under the single brand of Maintel and begin to operate a single business across all functions, the AIM-listed firm announced this morning.

Maintel said at the time the deal was announced that it was targeting £4.6m in cost savings by 2017 and immediately closed one of Azzurri's five offices.

In today's statement, former Azzurri CTO Rufus Grig, who is now Maintel group strategy director, said integrating the two companies "has been a challenge, but one we have enjoyed tackling".

"This latest phase in the integration process will see our people aligned under the single Maintel brand, and from today our customers will be able to access an updated service portal too," he said.

Azzurri, which burst out of nowhere in the noughties through an aggressive buy-and-build strategy - gobbling up 16 firms between 2000 and 2007 - is set to virtually treble Maintel's revenues to £140m. For its first half of 2016, Azzurri contributed £15.6m of Maintel's £38.1m revenues.

Maintel's CEO Eddie Buxton said: "The integration of Azzurri into Maintel has continued at pace and we're pleased that everything is going to plan. We pride ourselves on providing agility to customers, and our own integration project has shown how agile we are as a business."
