Connect and PC-1 merge to create £26m contact centre powerhouse

Deal comes after industry veteran Alex Tupman took charge of Connect Managed Services in 2014 management buyout

Comms player Connect Managed Services has taken a leap towards its £100m revenue goal by acquiring top Genesys partner PC-1.

Connect kicked off a buy-and-build play in 2014 when industry veteran Alex Tupman took the reins of the contact centre and managed services outfit in a management buyout backed by Lloyds Development Capital - but Tupman indicated at the time that it would be picky over acquisitions.

Its turnover has since grown to £13.1m, in 2016, up from £8.2m in 2012.

Connect said the deal with PC-1 creates a £26m-revenue "powerhouse" that supports over 100 blue-chip organisations. Genesys and Cisco partner PC-1's customers include Vodafone, NSPCC and Northumbrian Water.

Tupman (pictured), whose previous venture, ATC, grew to over 600 staff, set a £100m revenue goal on his arrival.

Speaking about the PC-1 deal, he said in a statement: "We have a very clear vision for the business, which is to provide the most complete and technically advanced contact centre and managed service offering in the industry. PC-1 is the recognised leader in Genesys technology, having recently been named 'Genesys Partner of the year 2017'.

"Adding deep Genesys expertise into the mix completes our platform-agnostic strategy and extends our existing capabilities beyond our established leadership position in Avaya and Cisco technologies. Having collaborated with the PC-1 team on many occasions over the last few years, we are very confident this will be a great fit for our staff and customers alike."

Connect's existing customers include RBS, Tesco and Johnson & Johnson, and the addition of PC-1 boosts its headcount to 150.
