TD Synnex goes green with its largest UK warehouse

TD Synnex has taken a big step to reduce its carbon footprint in the UK by switching to green energy at its Magna Park warehousing facility at Lutterworth.

The distributor claims the change is significant given the facility is TD Synnex's biggest location in the UK in terms of power consumption.

It means that - along with the planned relocation of the Basingstoke office next month - from January 2023 more than 90 per cent of the electricity consumed by the company in the UK will come from renewable sources.

In converting to green energy, Magna Park has joined the Warrington office, which was already using renewable sources.

TD Synnex says its Basingstoke office will move to green power when it is relocated to a nearby, more energy-efficient building in January 2023.

The distributor added it is in negotiations with the owners of its Bracknell location with the goal of converting to green energy there by the end of 2023.

"It's great news that Magna Park has switched over to green power and it means that by January 2023 three of our four locations will be on renewable energy," said TD Synnex facilities manager Mick Gilmore.

"That's a big step forward and will mean 90 per cent-plus of the electricity we use will be from renewable sources.

"We are pleased to have made so much progress this quickly. While converting to green energy means we do incur some additional cost, we had no hesitation in making this change as soon as possible."

Additionally, the company has also achieved ISO 9001: 2015 (Quality) and ISO 14001: 2015 (Environmental Management System) as part of an overall group recertification of its European Quality and Environmental Management System (QEMS).

This now covers all four major UK sites - the offices in Basingstoke, Bracknell and Warrington, and the warehouse facilities at Magna Park (pictured top, and below).
