Managing director, Magirus UK
Career so far I joined Magirus in 2005 as UK storage and services director before becoming UK managing director in 2009. Before that I founded Integritis, an email archiving and compliance consultancy at which I built up the consultancy to become the UK market leader prior to selling it to Magirus.
If you could be anyone else for a week, who would you be? I would love to have been Clare Balding during the Olympics. She got to interview so many inspirational athletes at a time when the UK truly excelled.
What will next year’s most overhyped industry buzzword be? BYOD (I know this is four words). I can see the concept but I just can’t really see it happening in reality. We shall see.
Has 2012 been a good, bad or ugly year? This year has been challenging and we have all seen consolidation and disruption in the channel. However the UK channel is a resilient entity and I am sure we will continue to develop a good, profitable business and have fun along the way.
What would you have as your last meal? Anything cooked by Raymond Blanc. He is still my hero; Heston is a close second, but my heart belongs to Raymond.
What keeps you awake at night? Nothing keeps me awake at night. Much to everyone’s annoyance, I can sleep no matter what is going on. I do wake up early though, so maybe that has something to do with it.
What piece of technology could you not be without? The map function on my sat nav and my iPhone – I have a terrible sense of direction and would constantly be lost both on foot and in the car without it.
Have any of your predictions come true this year? I have long predicted that the cloud would increasingly morph from being hype to reality and may of our partners are proving that this is the case.
What is the best partner/customer trip you have ever been on? I was lucky enough to be invited by Cisco to watch the men’s Olympic diving final. Both the event and the atmosphere were awesome – thanks Cisco!
