Managing director, Total Computer Networks

What is your greatest career move to date?

I'd have to say joining TCN in its infancy and helping the business grow to what it is today.

What is top of your bucket list?

Shark cage with a Great White.

What has changed most since you started working in the channel?

From an historical perspective a combination of decreasing margins and a huge increase in the number of startups. Over the next few years I can see the adoption of cloud solutions creating the biggest change of all.

How do you think Brexit is going to affect the channel?

At this point I genuinely believe it's very difficult to predict, although clearly certain types of channel organisation are more exposed than others.

What is your least favourite task during the working day?

I don't have many but HR updates are definitely near the top of my list.

If you were an animal, what would you be?

I couldn't decide so I've completed an online "If you were an animal what would you be" questionnaire and based upon my answers I'd be a dog. Woof woof.

If you won the big one on EuroMillions, what would you do?

Ask Sir Richard how much he'd want for his island.

What is your worst habit?

Talking too much (or so I'm told).

How has 2016 been for you?

On a personal level, 2016 has been as testing as ever (I have four daughters so no explanation required!). From a business perspective, the year has revolved around ensuring TCN continues to restructure in line with market changes and customer expectations.

If you didn't work in the IT channel, what would be your dream career?

A top-ranked professional golfer. A fantastic way to travel the world, experience different continents and cultures and hopefully earn a few quid at the same time (oh, and maybe throw in a bit of the celebrity lifestyle with it).

What major issues will the channel face in 2017?

Whether it can be described as an issue is open to debate but for me the cloud is still the biggest ongoing disruptor to the channel. I foresee many more channel mergers and acquisitions in 2017 as organisations scramble to remain relevant.
