Storage distributor CCI Distribution has polished its green credentials by
launching a virtual warehouse service to slash shipping costs and lessen the
impact on
the environment.
The CCI Virtual Warehouse, which is free of charge to resellers, enables the distributor to automatically populate the reseller’s web sites with current stock status and new stock via EDI. Customers then place an order via the reseller’s site and this is relayed electronically to CCI, which fulfils the order.
Orders will be accepted up until 6pm for next-day delivery, and resellers are also offered a plain-label direct shipping service that delivers straight to the customer.
This latest offering is part of CCI’s recent web-site revamp, which saw the site offer visitors a choice of either professional or consumer products as part of a general business rejig (CRN, 7 September).
Nick Preston, sales director at CCI, said: “Having streamlined our own
internal
business and logistical processes earlier this year, we are committed to helping
partners achieve the same efficiency gains.
“The Virtual Warehouse enables them to reduce costs and improve customer interactions, and delivers environmental benefits by removing unnecessary shipping.”
Preston added: “We are now in our strongest position ever to help partners constantly deliver against rising customer expecta-tions in a difficult economic climate.”
