HP ProCurve has confirmed that its UK & Ireland country manager, Jon Weatherall (pictured), has left the networking vendor to pursue “other opportunities”.
Weatherall joined the company in 1998 before taking the reins of the UK operation four years ago.
Speaking exclusively to CRN, Alberto Soto Garcia, vice president and general manager EMEA, said: “Jon has been with ProCurve for a long time and it was his decision to find new opportunities in the marketplace”.
Garcia, who is currently in the UK, stressed ProCurve would not be rushing the search for a replacement.
“Speed is not a priority,” he said. “The priority is to find the right leader and someone who can match Jon’s skills.”
Garcia said he will be carrying out Weatherall’s duties on an acting basis.
Ashley Snelling, managing director at ProCurve Elite partner ADA Networks, said: “Without Jon’s involvement in the business over the last ten years, ProCurve wouldn’t be in the position it’s in today.
“He may feel that, having grown ProCurve from about number eleven in the market to number two, he’s done his duty and wants another challenge in life.”
It is not yet known if Weatherall, who left the firm last Friday, plans to stay in the IT industry.
