Better support: Mayflex hopes the new system will ensure better service and customer support

Cabling infrastructure and networking distributor Mayflex has introduced a new staff development programme called Aspire.

The initiative was put together following feedback from staff about the existing appraisal system.

Mayflex’s HR department worked with the company’s directors, strategic and operational management teams to put it together.

Each individual’s performance plan includes task and performance standards that need to be accomplished in order to meet Mayflex’s wider goals for distributors, as set out in its business strategy.

“Our reason for putting Aspire together was to remove the once per annum appraisal system and replace it with a forward-looking, easy and flexible process," said Andrew Percival, Mayflex's managing director.

Percival added that Mayflex would help all staff develop the right core competences, skills levels, and general attributes required to perform to the best of their abilities.

He also said monthly catch-ups on progress would also be conducted, while more detailed reviews and performance summaries would be carried out at six-monthly intervals.

“The Aspire programme will ensure that our customers receive exceptional service from all members of the Mayflex team. Investment in employee development is central to Mayflex’s success,” he added.

Recognition and Reward?

The Aspire programe is a good idea, but without recognising talent, appreciating and valuing staff, what's the point?!
