Clipsham IT director Kay Bruen
Kay Bruen: People used to write viruses to bring down machines; now they write code for financial gain

Unified communications (UC) security specialist VibeSec is looking to storm the UK channel next year with the help of consultancy Clipsham IT.

Venture capital-backed VibeSec is to release its first product, a UC security and fraud prevention offering called Vigilance, this year. Clipsham has been tasked with finding a handful of trial customers and ascertaining market demand during the remainder of the year.

Next year, the focus will turn to recruitment, with Clipsham director Kay Bruen claiming she would scout for a select band of Mitel, Avaya and Cisco Call Manager partners with strong security skills. She added that the emergence of various PBX fraud techniques, such as auto-dialling revenue pumping scams, has created a need for VibeSec’s technology.

“People used to write viruses to bring down machines; now they write code for financial gain,” she said.

VibeSec chief executive Shimon Gruper added: “Transition to VoIP and UC entails significant security risks that must be mitigated.”

Next year the Israeli vendor hopes to bring out a software-as-a-service offering and will look to bring some providers into the partner fold.
