Distribution group Westcon is rolling out a new global initiative designed to provide resellers with a central knowledge pool for marketing new products.
The Technology Solutions Group (TSG) scheme provides accredited resellers with access to technical information, white papers and marketing campaigns when expanding their product portfolios or launching into a new technology market.
Paul Cunningham, who was recently appointed vice-president in charge of the TSG rollout, told CRN it is a global initiative. "The scheme was developed to help us map solutions for business opportunities that share certain characteristics," he said.
"If we can understand the business at a deeper level, then we can create better-fitting and more compelling solutions."
The TSG consists of a technical director and managers from different technology sectors within Westcon. They will be responsible for creating standardised frameworks for product delivery to target markets, and developing globally branded channel offers.
Jamie Pearce, UK channel manager at Secure Computing, told CRN he thinks any scheme that supports resellers is a good thing. "There are always integration needs and any help that the channel can get can only be positive," he said.
