Compaq?s assault on the SME sector is already paying dividends in the channel, which rates it the top manufacturer in the market.
More than 40 per cent of all members of this month?s PC Dealer/Context panel named Compaq as the company best targeting the SME sector. Runners-up included Hewlett Packard, Dell, AST, IBM and Gateway 2000.

Each month, PC Dealer and Context poll resellers on channel issues of the day. This month?s questionnaire is devoted entirely to the SME sector ? the most competitive hardware market of them all. Price is the main factor in SME purchases, the survey reveals.
This month, the PC Dealer/ Context panel members show a strong bias towards the SME market, with 91 per cent offering support packages for the needs of small and medium-sized companies
