C2000 beefs up audio visual roster
Distributor signs Epson and Sony
Broadline distributor Computer 2000 (C2000) is aiming to increase its audio visual (AV) sales with the signing of two new vendors.
High growth and good margins is the reasoning behind the distributor's decision to sign agreements with Epson for its range of printers, and Sony for its plasma screens.
"AV is just coming into a phase of popularity in both [small] business and consumer markets," said Russell Blackburn, general manager, PC and peripherals division, at C2000.
"It has traditionally been in the high-end market, but is now one of the few markets that offer high margins and growth.
"We are promoting AV now because we feel that we have a good portfolio, which also includes products from Toshiba, Samsung and Philips."
Blackburn explained that resellers can build businesses around these products or sell the 'on-top' of IT implementations.
Distributor Computers Unlimited has a dedicated AV division to address growing demand. Andy Reed, business development manager of the division, said that IT resellers are becoming more associated with AV products.
He maintained that both broadline and specialist distributors play an important role. "If a business knows it wants a particular printer it can go to its reseller which can then get it from a broadline distributor," he said.
"We look for resellers that are more proactive in this area, and we will support them in promoting and providing services around the products."
