Allasso takes on browser hackers

Sanctum's AppShield should prevent website defacements

Network security distributor Allasso has added Sanctum's AppShield Layer 7 application security product to its portfolio. The software is designed to protect digital resources from browser-based hacking.

"Most security products focus on network infrastructure such as firewalls or email content. However, this product sits between the browser and the web server to ensure that all information sent is legitimate," said Bernie Dodwell, sales and marketing director at Allasso.

One of the biggest security issues facing companies running a website is the fact that hackers get in and deface them. According to Dodwell, AppShield will prevent this.

"The number of websites getting hacked is on the increase, and it costs companies a lot of money to fix. Web hacking is not just a technology problem but a strategic business issue. AppShield is a business-critical product for any company running ebusiness applications," he explained.

Resellers can take advantage of the margins available from integration and support of its online customers.

"Because AppShield protects important web-based ebusiness applications, it is vital that it is fully integrated with a company's web infrastructure," said Dodwell. "This means there is an excellent opportunity for resellers to add significant value to an AppShield sale by providing consultancy."

Peggy Weigle, chief executive at Sanctum, commented: "We are committed to developing application security to help protect a company's digital assets against browser-launched cyber crime. Our technology products will benefit from the support services that Allasso can provide."
