CA INTEGRATES 3D INTO JASMINE

Computer Associates (CA) has taken 3D graphics technology that acts as a front end to its Unicenter TNG systems management software and integrated it into its Jasmine object-oriented database. Charles Wang, president of CA, said during his keynote speech at the Networld+Interop show in Las Vegas last week that 3D techniques made it easier for users to understand the information that was presented to them.

He said: 'If someone asked you to describe details of an airplane, you would be able to find boxes full of pages explaining what an airplane is, but if you showed a 3D model, the world would understand what an airplane is. 'The version of the database, called Jasmine TND, includes the Neugents neural agent technology found in Unicenter TNG, and is intended to be used for data mining purposes. It can detect hidden patterns in huge volumes of data.'
