Dixons starts on corporate trail

Mail-order dealer DNCS has been bought by Dixons and will be merged with PC World as the retail giant wants to break into the corporate market.

DNCS is one of Compaq's main resellers and may give the retailer Compaq PC rights. DNCS will keep all its 130 staff and hire more, according to its chairman, Neville Roberts. He said many of the details of the deal were still being worked on.

'We haven't decided what name we will use. Dixons obviously has aspirations toward the corporate market and the bringing together of DNCS and PC World is a clear indication of this,' Roberts said.

The cost of the deal is about #9.7 million, which is being financed by a mixture of loan notes and cash.
