Purple Rage signs Peer Software distribution deal

Distributor plans to put emphasis on 'original applications'

Newly launched software distributor Purple Rage has been appointed as a distributor for Peer Software’s full range of data, network management and synchronisation products.

Worcestershire-based Purple Rage began trading at the beginning of June and will sell US-based Peer Software’s products in the UK, Ireland and Benelux.

Rob Dixon, technical director at Purple Rage, said: “We are extremely pleased to have won the right to distribute Peer Software’s products. The firm’s appointment is a pivotal and important event in the evolution of our young company.”

Purple Rage intends to put an emphasis on “original applications”, Dixon added.

“We have quite a broad selection of applications already, from security and data protection to virtualisation and print management,” he said. “We cover Windows, Linux and Mac-based software. We want to focus on what we feel are original applications. We are in talks with several vendors and hope to announce further appointments soon.”

Jimmy Tam, Peer Software sales director, said: “We are delighted to appoint Purple Rage as a distributor. Purple Rage provides a high level of expertise and knowledge of disaster protection and recovery systems with excellent pre- and post-sales service to both its clients and partners.”

Richard Love, marketing director at rival distributor Computers Unlimited (CU), said: “CU’s model has always been to specialise in a specific market, unlike the broadliners that sell across the board.

“A small start-up such as Purple Rage won’t be able to compete with the broadliners, so it will have to find a niche, understand it and focus on growing it. We focus on three core markets for software: creative, digital home and Apple.”
