GlobalSign gears up for growth

Security vendor hints at long term growth strategy with plans to sign more channel partners

Security vendor GlobalSign has recruited over 200 resellers since re-branding last June and has revealed plans to create a roadmap for its partners in the coming year.

Last summer the Certificate Authorities (CA) and SSL Certificate vendor announced its worldwide re-launch as a member of the GMO Internet group of companies and opened new offices in the UK, USA and Japan.

With an array of VARs pocketed since then, GlobalSign has told CRN how it plans to shift its focus towards investing in partners with a roadmap on how to promote online security to its customers.

New European firms partner with the vendor include German hosting service providers CPS Datensysteme and Regfish and Romanian Kratos Hosting.

Steve Waite, director of marketing at GlobalSign, said: “GlobalSign wants to invest in it partners and has plans to aid VARs in promoting security to customers.”

“GlobalSign has had a few hundred resellers sign up to its recruitment programme since the beginning of 2008. It plans to have between 200-300 across the UK and Belguim by the end of this year,” he added.

In its first year after re-branding, the company has also launched a raft of new products, Waite claimed.

Waite said there are plenty of opportunities for VARs in the SSL market, due to its continuing growth.

“The UK has the third largest SSL market in the world, behind the US and Japan. In 2007 the UK had a 40 per cent growth in this market, which was the largest worldwide,” he explained.

Waite also revealed plans for more products over the next 3-6 months, to continue GlobalSign’s expansion.
