Olds advances case against Computacenter
Former Computacenter employee Caroline Olds appeared to take one step closer to the conclusion of her legal battle with the reseller after a decision was reached on half of the case.
Olds claimed that she was refused a promotional move from her position as an account handler on grounds that she was a woman and that she was unfairly dismissed (PC Dealer, 11 June).
She was looking for compensation of #162,000 for lost commission for six months, #9,999 for six months? wages and #532 for expenses.
It is understood that the industrial tribunal will consider the rest of its decision during October in West Croydon.
Phil Williams, head of communications at Computacenter, refused to comment on the case, except to say the company hoped that an amicable agreement could be reached as soon as possible.
He confirmed that a decision had been reached on half of the case. Olds was unavailable for comment.
Meanwhile, Computacenter?s results revealed a rise in pre-tax profit of 30 per cent to #24.3 million for the first half of the year, ended 30 June, on turnover of #514 million.
