Sage spices up Sterling on networks

Sage has released a network version of Sterling, and rival firm Pegasus has started a leasing programme for the accountancy market.

According to Sage UK, Sage Sterling for Windows Network version 3.2 is compatible with all popular PC networks. The company says the software will allow organisations using Windows to achieve greater productivity in other areas of the business.

Research by Sage indicates that most small to medium-sized businesses with PC networks in place for sales, marketing and administration, tend to run their accounts as a separate system. The latest release will allow these firms to take advantage of accounting information for sales, for example, and integrate it with other applications.

Version 3.2 of Sterling for Windows Network is ODBC-compliant and requires a 486SX PC with 8Mb of Ram or better. It costs u1,250 with a licence for an unlimited number of users and is available through accredited dealers and Sage Solutions Centres.

Pegasus has joined forces with Systems House Group to offer a leasing programme that Pegasus says can turn round proposals within 24 hours.

It covers software, hardware, maintenance and support.

Stuart Anderson, marketing manager at Pegasus, said: 'The programme will allow our products to reach a far wider audience as users can better use capital resources by spreading the cost.'

Pegasus has also upgraded Opera to version 2.12. The business and accounting product includes an number of Pegasus Senior features and modules are available for electronic data interchange, manufacturing, retail point of sale and contact management.

Opera includes features such as cheque handling, sales and purchase ledgers to one nominal ledger and sales order process documents.

It can be integrated with Microsoft Office applications, such as Excel and Access, and runs on Windows 3.11, Windows 95, Windows NT and Novell Netware.
