Infobank adds voice to the e-commerce cause

Software reseller Infobank is joining e-commerce working party Eurim to look at options for promoting electronic trading in the UK.

The reseller will take part in the development of standards, such as encryption policies and legislation governing the use of business-to-business e-commerce.

David Fraser, chairman of Infobank, said he was flattered that the company had been invited to join Eurim ? an association of lobbyists and businesses ? as it was the only IT organisation to be included.

Fraser denied that Infobank would tout for business among Eurim members, but conceded that membership of the organisation would increase its profile and generate more business for its software arm.

?The positioning gives us a platform to say what we think is happening with e-commerce and influence decisions. We are absolutely delighted,? he said.

Fraser added that business-to-business e-commerce was set to explode. ?As far as we can see, prospects are very strong for the next two years,? he said.

Infobank began trading in February 1995. Its results for the period ended 30 March showed a turnover of #10.1 million. ?We have a run rate per annum of #18 million,? said Fraser. He said the major factor in the company?s rapid growth was electronic commerce software sales.

In May, Infobank parted company with Tplc and ICL Sorbus, bringing an end to their 18-month marketing agreement, after Infobank acquired Software Corporation.
