Blue Cube set for double expansion

Security VAR opens first London office, with second new base to follow

West Sussex-based security VAR Blue Cube has kick-started a period of growth by opening an office in London, with its first northern base set to follow later this year.

The expansion comes after a rethink of the business last year paid dividends, with revenue up 20 per cent year on year and pipeline up 40 per cent.

Blue Cube also sought the advice of a cybersecurity consultancy firm, which helped it gear up for a push into managed services.

"We engaged the services of Cyber Business Growth and they really got the floorboard up," said Blue Cube CEO Gary Haycock-West (pictured).

"There were some elephants in the room that had to be talked about because you get stuck in your own way of doing things."

Haycock-West said the new office in London, along with a prospective office in Manchester, will bring Blue Cube closer to its customers and also help it attract the best talent in the cybersecurity industry as it expands.

Alongside hiring staff from the industry, Blue Cube will this year bring another wave of recruits through its academy, which it launched last year and has so far produced three graduates.

Also on the agenda is a move into managed service, which Blue Cube will launch next month following a trial period with a handful of customers.

"It's synonymous with where the market is pushing us," Haycock-West said. "We have a lot of very nice customers so it gives us another string to our bow to help them, rather than always chasing new ones.

"We're always bringing in new business, but there is still plenty on the table with existing customers, some of which have been with us for 18 years."
