Distributor Ideal has been named as the first UK distributor for network management software specialist LANboss, in a move that is intended to increase the vendor's penetration in the SME sector.
Under the agreement, Ideal will offer its resellers the LANboss Auditing Toolkit, along with related training and support packages.
LANboss claimed the software provides managers with an overview of a network, including details of individual workstation configuration and installed applications. It also identifies where hardware replacements or upgrades are needed, and deals with software licence management.
Will Collins, channel development manager at LANboss, said Ideal was chosen because the software can be attached to all storage products, an area in which Ideal specialises.
"By attaching our software to SANs, NAS and servers, resellers will be able to offer overall solutions that are different to others on the market, and the product allows for value-add," he said.
"Our software is simple and cost-effective enough to be used in all levels of business, ranging from corporates through to SMEs."
However, he added that the firm is still looking to appoint other distributors and resellers.
Mark Johnson, general manager for software at Ideal, said: "This type of product will allow VARs to add value for SME customers by offering a fairly priced product that gives network managers a complete picture of a network, manages licensing and identifies upgrades."
